Finally, a Blog

Updated: Apr 9, 2023

Finally, a long-awaited blog. Personally, I prefer to write blogs instead of recording vlogs, since the latter has many advantages over the former. I find that it is much easier to express my thoughts in writing than in videos since typing allows me to go back and better revise my thoughts and to pause in order to think through thoughts.

The update to the Esports website remains the same: slow but steady progress. I find that the most challenging part of it is motivation, as having worked on this and its other related assessments for so long my sense of wonder and exploration has long already left me, and most if not all of the time I find it a tedious grind. Not only that, I have also put down or delayed other personal projects that I find joy in.

Mr. Dennis suggested that I complete the FAQ and parent questions first, as that is the primary purpose of the website, and that I can bother about things such as roster pictures later, since that might require passing out forms and such in order to obtain pictures of the club members. I too suggested that if we are unable to get their real-life pictures, we can instead use their Discord profile pictures.

Lastly, I worry that the Esports website, my Final Product, would not compare to my Original Work in Virtual Productions. Think about it, for my Original Work I created a wooded scene in Unreal Engine and rendered it to the point where it is almost indistinguishable from a real forest; while for my Final Product, the result is simply a website. This is the main reason why in my original plans for the website I had thoughts of making videos as well in order to supplement the resources.

In conclusion, I need to get working as the April 10 deadline is fast approaching. Rising Freshman Night is tonight, which the Esports Club is participating in. It would prove a good time to take some pictures for the website, and maybe also interact with parents.
